In this workshop we explored mood and it's themes. We looked at the dictionary definition of 'Mood' to help us gain understanding... 'A Temporary State of Mind or Feeling'.

To further our understanding of association of mood, we went around and had to all contribute and say what we thought mood is. I said mood is an 'experience' and other people said its a 'state of mind', it's 'dynamic' and 'dependent on external factors'. Doing this exercise helped us a group to grasp the idea of mood to help us with our film projects.

After this exercise we then went on to listen to a number of different songs that convey different moods and we had to listen to them and note our emotions and feelings when hearing them. The songs we listened to were:

These are my notes on each song that I listened to where I made a quick mind map on how each one made me feel and what they reminded me of. This exercise helped me to engage with quickly recognising the specific way a song makes me feel and the importance of this when communicating.

We then had to chose one of these songs to make a mood board for one of these songs, to help our communication skills and our mood board skills. I chose the first song 'In The Mood' by Glen Miller...

For the mood board, I wanted to create the feeling of the 1940's winter/ Christmas feel in big cities such as NYC. This is simply from the feeling and mood I picked up when I listened to the song. I thought my mood board was successful but if I was to do it again I would add more images to help portray the mood better.
