Final video:
Today we had to show our final mini project 2 to our groups for critiques. This happened on campus in register order, so we were able to see our peers videos and give them feedback as well as gain feedback for ours.
Some feedback I got and some areas we discussed in regard to my film was
Use of animation - How did I do it? What app did I use? How long did it take? After answering these, as a group we found out it would be helpful for me to share on our teams chat how I used procreate and animation assist to create this, as not many people knew you could do this and I definitely didn't know until I had googled it. This would be beneficial to other students who want to maybe experiment, try or use animation.
Branding and commercialisation - Some feedback I got was that I was a bit heavy on the branding elements of the film however, I already knew this. I essentially had a lot of it there to bulk up the minutes and meet the 60 second brief requirements as the animation was hard to get longer than 45 seconds. I had also added an actual image of the dress I was inspired by for this from the S/S22 collection however we discussed I'm not actually licensed to show that alongside other logos...
Reflection and experiments - Where are you going to take this idea? I'm not. As much as it was fun to try something different and I am proud of the final outcome, this just isn't something I want to look at for final project. I want to look at femininity and powerful women, which I could incorporate into stop motion however I would prefer to do this in a physical form.
Storyline - What is the story here? As an ode to Jason Wu's passion for craftsmanship in his recent collection and use of natural dye I wanted to create a handcrafted video to emphasise this precision. The film contents is the journey from a seed being planted all the way to growing, blooming and turning into natural dye for a particular garment from the S/S22 collection.
Overall, these critiques were extremely helpful in regard to seeing other peoples films and insights into their tips and tricks for filmmaking. Gaining feedback and having discussions on your film and what you've created and the research behind it helps you to establish your reflection on your work.
